Rihanna and her ex-boyfriend Chris Brown have a reason to celebrate before the coming MTV Video Music Awards which holds Today 6th September 2012.
They just scraped into qualifying for the vote, which covered appearances from the past five years.
Rihanna and Chris performed a raunchy medley of his hits Kiss Kiss and Wall To Wall and her single Umbrella for the show back in 2007
So without further ado, the winner of this year's Hottest Debut Performance poll is: the show-stopping 2007 medley by Chris Brown and Rihanna. Brown's seriously fancy footwork over snippets from "Wall to Wall" and "Kiss Kiss" perfectly sandwiched video of the year nominee Rihanna's hit "Umbrella." And clearly, their musical fireworks left a lasting impression on VMA devotees.
Runner-up Lady Gaga's performance of "Paparazzi" in 2010 was theatrical and memorable for many reasons, which among them was her use of fake blood to simulate her death onstage. Third place went to VMA nominee Justin Bieber who showed off his vocal prowess and a squeal-invoking drum solo during his "U Smile" medley in 2010.
The Bajan star will be singing at the event this year, and rumours had been rife that she would reunite with Best Male Video nominee Chris Brown on stage for her hit Birthday Cake.
However, it has now be confirmed that Rihanna – who is nominated for three gongs – will be taking to the stage with rapper A$AP Rocky.
The VMAs will be held in Los Angeles Today 6th September, with performances also coming from acts including Nicki Minaj, Pink, Lil Wayne, Green Day and British boyband One Direction.
